The beginning goes back to 1924, when one of the founding members, working on film related topics anc public address systems, patented a sound system applicable to projectors, silent until then. Since 1928, with some other members, they started making 35 mm. sound projectors. It was the first company in Spain to make the whole projector. From 1930 to 1936, over 1000 OSSA's projectors were installed in Spain in different models. During the Civil War, all activity stopped, but it was restarted with a renewed effort in 1940, installing their models through the spanish provinces.
Provided that the distribution net was quite important, even in the Balearic Islands, around 1944, they thought about making motorcycles.
After some prototypes, in 1949 the first mass-produced motorcycle came out: the 125 cc. OSSA. During the 50s some motorcycle models were launched wich were very apreciated by the public for its reliability. In the 60s, the company reached its topmost point with exports to USA and Europe, mostly. During this period, the diversity started: cultivators, engines, etc... It is important to mention that OSSA took part in all the main motorcycling events: trial, moto-cross, speed championships, both national and international competitions, achieving important victories in the World Championship.
After some problems in 1977, when the company became a mutual association (1979), finally, in 1982 fell into a deep crisis which caused its extinction.
